HISTORY
2012-2020
Since 2012, the company involved in the Global Threat Reduction Initiative (GTRI, now - Nuclear Threat Initiative, NTI) - an international program whose mission is to reduce and protect vulnerable nuclear and radiological materials located at civilian sites worldwide.
Under contracts with PNNL (USA), as the unified Ukrainian contractor, the company performs the whole range of activities on the modernization of engineering & technical components of physical protection systems (PPS), from design to commissioning. Modernization and installation of additional PPS equipment are aimed at reducing the possibility of committing sabotage, theft or any other illegal acquisition of radiological materials. Today, the company has completed work at 37 civilian sites - at medical institutions, production facilities, specialized enterprises of the radioactive waste storage and disposal, and at other facilities. All new sites with modernized PPS are connected to the Central Monitoring Station, located at the Kyiv office of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.
2008-2012
Under contracts with PNNL (USA), the company participates in the international Second Line of Defense Program (SLD). The mission of the Program is to strengthen the capability of governments to detect and deter illicit or improper trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive materials across international borders and to reduce the probability of the transformation of these materials into weapons of mass destruction.
As a Ukrainian contractor, the company performed maintenance, scheduled and emergency repairs of Radiation Monitoring Systems installed on the borders of Ukraine. During this period, the company serviced 160 Portal Radiation Monitors along with video surveillance systems and communication infrastructure located at 25 border crossings.
2007
Under contract with GSE Power Systems (USA), the company's staff was involved in the creation of a Desalination Plant Simulator for the Emirates Simulation Academy (United Arab Emirates, UAE).
2004-2005
Difficult times for the company. Around 2004, the company completed all main tasks of the Program on Creation and Development of the National Personnel Training System for Ukrainian NPPs. At the same time, international technology transfer and deployment projects were completed or partially completed. Although the work on modernization of the NPP simulators continued, the number of task orders from the Ministry of Fuel & Energy and NNEGC Energoatom significantly decreased. Additional internal problem was the company's unpreparedness for structural changes. However, the company sustained and emerged from this period more mature, confident and mobile.
The most significant example of the company's activity during this period is its participation in pilot projects for the implementation of System-Based Emergency Operating Instructions (EOIs) for NPPs with VVER reactors in Ukraine. By following the SOAI, NPP operators can stabilize the reactor and prevent the transition of an emergency into an accident. Under contracts with PNNL (USA), the company continued work on the implementation of EOIs until 2009.
2002-2003
The company participates in a project known as Chernobyl Shelter Implementation Plan (SIP) managed by the international group of experts (Project Management Unit, PMU) in Slavutich. The company was contracted as a consultant to determine the requirements for the Shelter Personnel Training Center (PTC). During the execution of the PMU contract, the company:
-
determined the quantitative and qualitative indicators of the Center, including the staffing, personnel qualifications, requirements of the technical equipment of the Center;
-
determined the kinds of training, the set and content of training programs, the total number of trainees in accordance with the SIP tasks;
-
developed detailed labor costs estimate, including the cost of training programs and training materials elaboration, the cost of PTC personnel, Shelter personnel and contractors training;
-
developed the Technical Specifications required for the establishment of the Center.
1997-2007
The company involved in the creation of the National Personnel Training System for Ukrainian NPPs in cooperation with NNEGC Energoatom, Ukrainian nuclear power plants, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, NTUU «KPI», ONPU, Russian VNIIAES and foreign partners.
NPP personnel qualification and training has become priority concerns for achieving a high level of safety and reliability of the Ukrainian nuclear power industry.
1995-1997
The beginning of cooperation with leading domestic and foreign organizations and companies in the field of nuclear energy and nuclear safety. The company participates in international programs INSP, TACIS and others.
1992-1994
The company has created a number of computer-based systems - software and hardware tools of personnel training for NPP with RBMK-1000 and WWER-1000 reactors. This included the computerized Information & Referral System (IRS) «Panels and consoles of RBMK-1000 Control Room»; automated learning systems for responsible duty personnel (for 19 positions in total); «Decision Making Simulator» for a Control Room Reactor Operator; automated learning & evaluating systems (AES) on systems and equipment of Reactor Shop, Turbine Shop, I&C Shop; AES on topics «Labor Protection», «Fire Safety», «Nuclear Energy Rules and Regulations» and «Nuclear Safety», as well as AES «Emergency Exercises».
1990
The year the company was founded. Recognizing the need for change in domestic nuclear energy, a group of young engineers - former employees of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant - decides to create an engineering company with intention to take practical steps in improving the safety of nuclear power plants. The period of the company's formation coincided with the first years of declaration and strengthening of Ukrainian independence, and it was important for the new company to withstand those difficult conditions. At that time, knowledge and experience in nuclear energy were in the demand in Ukraine as a nuclear state. This allowed the company successfully to follow the path of developing its own expertise, mastering new ideas and technologies, establishing relationships with partners and eventually to take a stable competitive position for several years.
